An area of 20 hectares has been revitalised since 1995 by removing the embankment on the right bank and lowering the ground by extracting inert materials. This has created a natural, wild space at the conjunction of running water and dry land: there are around 1,500 different plant species, a great variety of insects, amphibians, fish, birds and mammals.
