The path crosses the cutting where the old cable railway used to run, linking the Lecco to Sondrio railway line with Regoledo and, in particular, a hydrotherapy centre that opened there in 1858. Cesare Cantù, Massimo d’Azeglio and Toscanini were just some of the illustrious guests at this important establishment. Still visible at the top of the clearing, it was subsequently used as a military hospital and as a branch of the Istituto Sacra Famiglia (the Sacred Family Institute) in Cesano Boscone.
