The Baldiscio refuge has been opened as part of the Interreg Italy-Switzerland project “ViVi 2.0 – Le Vie del Viandante”; the facility is situated at an altitude of 2,353 meters on the cross-border slope between Valle Spluga and Val Mesolcina, in a scenic location overlooking Lago Grande del Baldiscio.
The refuge is a key landmark for those visiting the Spluga and Mesolcina valleys. Opened in January 2025, the project builds upon the established cross-border cooperation between Valchiavenna and Swiss territories, aiming to showcase the Spluga Valley and its landscape, natural, and cultural heritage through new opportunities for engagement and more sustainable forms of tourism.
